Windsor police arrested an Eaton man after being called Monday evening to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on reports of child abuse.
According to Windsor Police Chief John Michaels, officers arrived at the hospital where a 6-month-old male infant had received serious bodily injury.
After further investigation, police arrested Robert Van Buren, 18, of Eaton and charged him with felony child abuse and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. Van Buren was booked and taken to Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins.
Windsor police responded to the call because the infant was at his grandparents' house in Windsor at the time.
Michaels said the infant was originally treated at NCMC, and then transported to The Children's Hospital in Aurora.
"This is the most severe child abuse case in about four years that I remember," Michaels said.
