Zero Landscaping Donated

Print Comment
Marge Straube was having a hard time deciding what to do with a piece of land that the Windsor-Severance Historical Society owned. It was getting run down and she had to do something with it.

The piece of land on the corner of 5th and Ash streets is all that the Windsor-Severance Historical Society has left of the area surrounding Boardwalk Park. Unfortunately, this area has no running water on it so their trees were getting pretty dried up.

"The Town of Windsor was actually kind of getting on us for not keeping it cleaned up," said Sue Buxmann, who works for the Windsor-Severance Historical Society.

Straube, who also works for the Historical Society, lives next to Rob Anzulewicz and asked him if he was interested in doing the landscaping for the area. Anzulewicz works with Green Thumb Landscaping and said he would be more than happy to help.

He ended up donating all the zero landscaping for the area three weeks ago.

"I did this as a community service," Anzulewicz said. "It was a nice thing to do, and it is taking care of our community."

The area was getting pretty run down and they wanted to keep it nice, considering it was all they had left of the area.

"We were trying to preserve it and the building there," Anzulewicz said. "I said I would do what I could for her, and that's exactly what we did."

About four truckloads later, the crew finally had all of the trash around the spot picked up.

"After that, we simply put in a weed barrier, rock and then some sitting boulders," Anzulewicz said.

The landscaping works great for the area, and Anzulewicz said that this will now be his secret spot for fireworks for the coming years.

"I work for Green Thumb Landscaping of "Beautiful Windsor", as our contract says," Anzulewicz said.

"It made a big difference and we are so grateful," Buxmann said.
