Tribute: Leah Claus was born in Fort Collins to Carl and Mary (Meisner) Waag of Krimm, Russia. She was the fourth of 10 siblings. She attended school in Fort Collins, and later on had to work at home and on the farm to help raise the family. She married David Claus on Sept. 3, 1935. Mr. & Mrs. Claus spent 17 winters in Arizona and traveled all 48 states and Mexico, while enjoying retirement after a lifetime of farming in the Windsor and Greeley area. Mrs. Claus loved dancing the Dutch Hop, being a fabulous cook, being a great homemaker and lived life to its fullest for her husband and family.
Mrs. Claus died peacefully Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Windsor.
Survivors: Her loving husband David Claus of 73 years; daughter, Donna Nail and husband Tom of Denver; son Harmon Claus of Bullhead City, Ariz.; grandsons, Mike and Tommy Nail; great grandsons, Jeremy, Shane and Evan Nail; great granddaughter Katlyn MarieNail and great great granddaughter, Peyton June Nail all of Denver. She is also survived by her brother, Alexander (Jim) Waag; a sister, Lorraine Vermilya both of Fort Collins; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends made during her 93 years of a great fun-filled life.
Preceded in death by: Brothers, Albert, Victor, Fred, Harry and Carl Waag; sisters, Frieda Strohman and Elizabeth Kaltenbertger of Fort Collins.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor.
Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Windsor.
