Greg Myers and Frank Carbajal will join elite company in April.
Myers and Carbajal two recognizable names among longtime followers of the Northern Colorado sports scene will be inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame on April 10 at the Denver Marriott City Center.
Carbajal and Myers will be one of six people inducted into a class headlined by former Colorado Avalanche all-star Peter Forsberg.
Carbajal, a Greeley native, was an all-conference baseball and basketball player at the University of Northern Colorado in the early 1960s.
He was a Division I all-region pitcher in 1960, helping the Bears baseball program to a pair of College World Series appearances.
Carbajal went on to coach for 41 years at high schools and community colleges, accumulating more than 600 basketball wins.
Myers was a standout football player at Windsor High School and Colorado State University before moving on to a career in the NFL in 1996.
At CSU, he was a four-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection. He also was a two-time All-American. In 1995, he won the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nations top defensive back.
After college, Myers was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL draft. He played five pro seasons with the Bengals (1996-1999) and the Dallas Cowboys (2000).
