Proposition 103 failed by a large margin, so thanks to all who voted no.

One of the points I mentioned earlier was the wording following the statement that the present amount budgeted could not be changed in the next five years. The words that stated if the new budget reduced the present level, the new lowered amount would be the threshold for the following five years.

I just read that the governor plans to cut education’s budgeted amount by $60 million per year starting with the next budget. This is exactly why I said trust a politician, not me. The Democrat from Boulder had to be aware of the governor’s intentions. That is why the wording was as it was. He didn’t think anyone would read that portion of the bill.

They tried to “con” us by saying all the money would go for education. Fortunately, more than 60 percent recognized the faults of the proposal, even if some voted no just because they didn’t want any more taxes.

The result is the same — no new taxes.
