Although February started out mild and dry Wednesday, changes set in today as winter weather returns to Colorado. Snow will develop statewide, moving into the Greeley area late this afternoon. There could be some light snow showers for the evening commute, but its the Friday morning drive that could have some measurable snow on the ground.
As this slow-moving system tracks across the southern half of the state, it will spread snow through Weld County lasting through midday Friday. Northerly winds will create blowing and drifting snow, making travel hazardous.
In addition to the snow, expect a sharp drop in temperatures. A strong cold front will cause highs today and Friday to be confined to the 30s. The storm will push east and move out of the state Friday night, leading to sunny but cool weather for the weekend.
