GIRLS HOOPS
Fort Collins Greeley West went on the road, but it didnt take its best basketball with it. Despite strong individual performances, the Wildcats gave up 60 points to Poudre and never really had a chance.
Alissa Mascarenas had five points, but chipped in with 10 rebounds and was always in position under the basket. Offensively, Moriah Campbell held her own, scoring 11 to go along with her six rebounds.
In the end, turnovers killed the Spartans.

WRESTLING
Greeley Highlands wrestling team walked into a trap Thursday night. It was through the narrowest of gaps that the Huskies escaped the grasp of the University Bulldogs. The night started with 170-pounder Thomas Weiderspoon pinning Tanner Reed in 1:11, a guy he lost to last time. At 132, Ben Gutierrez got some sweet revenge against Nathan White of Highland, scoring a pin as well.
The crowd was raucous; the fans sensed an upset. Last year, they had to sit through a 40-point loss. University coach Justin Garcia said the place was electric. The dual came down to one match, really. At 160 pounds, Matt Whortman needed a pin against Chris Villalobos of Highland. The wrestlers went back and forth, with Wortman finally winning a decision, 17-10.
Despite the dual loss, Garcia said he couldnt have been more proud.
Its the best loss you could ever have, Garcia said.
