Eight area kids, including one from Windsor, won their age division in the Denver Nuggets Basketball Skills Challenge to advance to the state championship on March 11 during a Nuggets game.
The competition required girls and boys ages 7-14 to show off their skills in dribbling, passing and shooting. It is a youth program of the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and the Denver Nuggets with support from Arbys. The competition was on Jan. 29 at the Windsor Community Recreation Center.
The following kids placed finished first in their age division:
Boys
Age 7-8: Ethan Ballek, Fort Collins
Age 9-10: Jack Patton, Fort Collins
Age: 11-12: Caleb Covelli, Weldona
Age 13-14: Braxton Bertolette, Loveland
Girls
Age 7-8: Emerson Layne, Fort Collins
Age 9-10: Lauren Traylor, Windsor
Age 11-12: Riley Howk. Fort Collins
Age 13-14: Janessa Ramey, Anton
