Day of Dance set Saturday

The Spirit of Women Day of Dance this Saturday at the Greeley Mall will offer not only a chance to dance for anyone who wants to step in, but also several health screenings.

Sponsored by North Colorado Medical Center, the day will feature special dancers and dancing for people who would like to take part in the exercise, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There also will be health screenings to check the condition of people's hearts. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States.

The Day of Dance performances will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Greeley Mall, where dancers from the Greeley Recreation Center will begin the shows:

10 a.m. -- University of Northern Colorado Sugar Bears Cheer Squad.

10:15 a.m. -- Greeley Conservatory of Dance.

11 a.m. -- Rodarte Dancers

Also performing will be area high school cheer squads, the Eagles Chicks, Mirage Belly dancers, the Syncopation Station Senior Tap Dancers and the Merry Mixers Square Dancers. During the day, the public will be invited to participate in line dancing, salsa dancing and ballroom dancing.

In addition, the special day of dance will include anyone who would like to participate in the health screenings. Blood tests are available from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and other screens include blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse oxygen level, step test, pulmonary function, body composition, sleep apnea screenings and some echo screenings.
