Ashley Wathier skipped down the catwalk. In fact, you could say she sashayed in her red strapless dress and black high heels.

But this wasn't the Victoria's Secret fashion show -- it was the anti-Victoria's Secret fashion show. All bodies were welcome.

The 20-year-old junior dietetics major at the University of Northern Colorado particpated in the 2nd annual Everyday Angels Fashion Show on Monday night. The fashion show is part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week at UNC.

"This shows that beautiful can come in different forms," Wathier said. "Society creates a world where everyone becomes self-conscious and there's that pressure of being perfect."

More than 200 people participated in show that took place in the University Center Pikes Peak Ballroom. It was hosted by the Women's Resource Center, University Program Council, Counseling Center and the UNC Wellness Coalition.

"There's more than just body shapes and looks -- people are deep and you can see that here," said Deana Davies, who coordinates the Assault Survivors Advocacy Program and works for the Counseling Center at UNC.

The lights went down and everyday models began walking down the runway wearing everything from sweat pants to prom dresses. Every model wore clothes that fit their personality.

Take Jasmin Corral, a sorority sister who wore a bright green sweater and jeans.

"We really stand up for women's awareness," said Corral, 22, of Lambda Theta Nu and an elementary education major at UNC. "A lot of women don't understand what beauty is and this focuses on how everyone is beautiful."

Twelve gymnasts from Greeley's Flyaways of Theo's Adventure Gym walked down the runway in memory of 1998 gymnast Christy Henrich, who died from eating disorders at 22 in 1994.

The young gymnats walked down the runway with their angels wings and a handful of statistics on how eating disorders are consuming our nation.

"They used kids and that got the message across," said Marilyn Germanson, 22, a senior English major at UNC. "I was shocked to see the statistics."

For instance, 46 percent of 9-11-year-olds are on diets, and 80 percent of American women are dissatisfied with their appearance, according to the National Eating Disorder Association.
