Opal Osborne of Greeley will celebrate her 100th birthday with a reception from 1:30-3:15 p.m. May 19 in Waltz Hall at Bonell Good Samaritan Community, 708 22nd St., Greeley. Friends and family are invited to attend. Cards may be sent to her in care of Bonell, The Manor, No. 26, 708 22nd St., Greeley, CO 80631.
Mrs. Osborne was born May 18, 1908, in Custer County, Neb., to Lafayette and Melissa Oxford. She had seven siblings. After graduating from high school in 1923, she moved to Colorado and married Forest Osborne on Nov. 24, 1928. They had two children.
After they retired from farming, the Osbornes moved to Denver, where Mrs. Osborne worked as a cook for companies in Denver, Greeley and Boulder. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and meets weekly with her longtime friend, Norma Ackerman, for prayer and Bible study. She enjoys taking part in all the daily activities offered at Bonell and attends the Sunday services in the chapel. She also follows the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies baseball teams.
Mrs. Osborne's daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ivan Moyer, live in Bella Vista, Ark. Her son, Forest Theodore, died in 1951.
She also has two granddaughters, Melissa Keller and husband Ronald of Colorado Springs and Dawn Martin and husband Kevin of O'Fallon, Ill.; three great-grandsons, Micah, Thomas and Andrew; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca.
