After working for the past few years at other salons in Windsor, Sarah Frasco has opened up PinUps Salon at the corner of Main and 4th streets.
Frasco grew up in Windsor, graduating from Windsor High School in 2001, and has 12 years of experience as a hairstylist. Before opening the salon Dec. 1, she worked at Windsor salons Rumors on Main and Suite C Salon.
The salon is decorated with photos of Marilyn Monroe, pin-up art and other items that Frasco said bring her personality to the salon.
“(Monroe’s) quotes and stuff have always been an influence on my life,” Frasco said. “I’m very bold and I love art, I love tattoos and I wanted a mixture of that theme. Windsor needed a little spice like that.”
The space used to house the Old Town Smoke Shop before the owners remodeled the space before leasing it to Frasco.
“They came in and gutted it. Raised the ceilings three feet. Redid plumbing, electrical, and then I came in and painted and did all the decorating and lighting,” Frasco said.
Also working in the salon are stylists Oakley Fix and Kari Jobe, who came to PinUps from Suite C Salon. Frasco said she still has space for two more stylists and would like to get a massage therapist to work at the salon as well.
The salon offers basic hairstyling services as well as thermo straightening, extensions, highlights, color and waxing. The main retail product stocked at the salon is Kenra and Big Sexy.
Appointments can be made by calling the salon or booking online through www.vagaro.com. Walk-ins are also accepted, she said.
“Vagaro is easy,” Frasco said. “It’s a cool online app and they can book it anytime they want. I love it.”
She said her stylists are also available for updos for weddings and other special events, and can travel if appointments are booked far enough in advance.
The salon is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
