Class 4A/5A boys and girls basketball brackets released

The Windsor girls basketball team earned the best seed of any Weld County squad on Sunday.

The Colorado High School Athletics Association released its pairings for the boys and girls Class 4A and 5A state basketball tournaments, making the Wizards a No. 4 seed in the Tanya Haaver region. The ranking gives Windsor a first round bye and a second round home game on Friday against either fifth-seed Evergreen or 12-seed Eagle Valley.

Weld Central, meanwhile, earned a No. 6 seed in the Tracy Hill region, meaning the Rebels play host to No. 11 seed Mountain View on Tuesday. A win for Weld Central on Tuesday would send the Rebels to take on Palmer Ridge on Friday in Monument.

Greeley Central’s girls also earned a spot in the big dance, landing a No. 8 seed in the Donald Wilson region. The Wildcats will play host to ninth-seed Erie on Thursday with the winner earning a shot at top-seeded Mesa Ridge on Friday in Colorado Springs.

Windsor, Greeley Central and Northridge all earned a spot in the Class 4A boys tournament. Central and Northridge face each other in the first round. All three schools ended up in the Maceo Brodnax Jr. division.

Windsor earned the highest seed at No. 5. The Wizards will play host to 12th-seeded Broomfield on Wednesday night. Awaiting that winner will be No. 4 seed Thomas Jefferson on Friday.

Two Greeley schools, meanwhile, will duke it out in an opening round game. Sixth seed Central will face No. 11 seed Northridge on Wednesday at Central. The winner of that game will face third-seed Golden in Golden on Friday.
