There is enough room for private and public fitness centers in Windsor
To the editor:
Windsor is debating how to build out the expansion to the Community Recreation Center. I was involved with planning the CRC from the very beginning. Community needs and desires are what drove the project. The well being of local health fitness centers was always considered.
The sports consultants in the planning stages presented results of surveys that showed local fitness centers would not be hurt, but could indeed benefit. The fitness programs offered in community recreation centers are very basic and feed the private health facilities with people who want more advanced programs.
The fitness center is an essential part of a recreation facility and generate funds that would ensure the facility would have greater cost recovery and the taxpayer’s subsidy would be much less.
Most Windsorites do not have health club memberships and surely there is room in our town for private and public facilities.
