The Town of Windsor was awarded for its financial and budgetary reporting for the fifth time in a row, Town Director of Finance Dean Moyer told the Windsor Town Board during Monday’s meeting.
The town received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association in February for its comprehensive annual financial report for 2012.
“It’s a national program,” Moyer said, adding that the town submits its annual financial report to the association every year. “For instance Denver and ourselves have the same criteria that the report is judged on, no matter how large or small … I think it comes in handy when we go to borrow money or something like that.”
A news release announcing the award said the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its award represents a significant accomplishment.
“Dean, outstanding. Great job,” Mayor John Vazquez said. “I commend you and your department in all your continuing efforts to keep our budgets in line and our numbers straight. It speaks volumes about your leadership and how hard your department works. I appreciate that and I think the board does, as well.”
