A Windsor-based gun rights group has endorsed Weld County Sheriff candidate Steve Reams in the race for the Republican nomination.
In a posting on its Facebook page on Wednesday, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners called Reams the only 100 percent pro-gun candidate in the race.
“If you’re a delegate in Weld County, please show up to the Weld GOP assembly this Saturday and vote for Steve Reams,” the posting said.
RMGO has at times been a lightning rod for controversy, and has criticized the National Rifle Association for not taking a strong enough stand on gun issues.
Reams and Keith Olson both are vying for the Republican nomination. The GOP county assembly will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Northridge High School, 100 71st Ave.
