Work on Colo. 392 and Weld County Road 21 near Windsor resumes

After a delay due to the September flood, Weld County crews are preparing to return to an intersection improvement project near Windsor within the next week.

Crews plan to be working on Colo. 392 between Weld County roads 21 and 23 by Monday, according to a news release.

The project, slated to last through June, requires a detour of westbound traffic on Colo. 392 and closure of the south leg of Weld County Road 23 north of Colo. 392.

County officials say the intersection has been on their radar for a number of years because of safety issues, and they hope to realign it to reduce crashes.

The improvements will also include turn lanes and acceleration and deceleration lanes.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization, Weld County, and the towns of Windsor and Severance are pooling their resources to provide the $3.6 million needed to realign the intersection.
