Crack repair project for 2014 begins Monday

The town will begin work on its 2014 street crack repair project Monday.

The work of this contract consists of crack repair in the parking lots of Boardwalk Park, Chimney Park, Community Recreation Center, Eastman Park, and in the Governor Farms Subdivision, Metal Container Court, Steeplechase Subdivision, Highland Meadows Subdivision, and Poudre Heights Subdivision (listed based on priority).

A-1 Chipseal has been awarded the contract for the project.

The crack repair project will utilize a heated rubberized material to seal cracks that have developed from the expansion and shrinking of the asphalt due to temperature, expansive soils and trench settlement. This will prevent moisture from entering the subgrade of the roadway and will help protect the roadway from further deterioration.

The project will begin Monday in the parking lots listed above and proceed down the priority list; all affected residents will receive a door hanger with further details and dates.

Parking lots and streets will not be completely closed to traffic, however, there will be some restrictions on movement, and if possible, alternate routes are advised.

Parking will not be allowed on the streets during this project and the parking lots will be sectioned off and rotated to allow parking and continued use of the facilities; once the material is placed and the “No Parking” signs are removed, parking will be permitted.

More information is available from the Town Engineer’s Department at (970) 674-2413, or on the town’s website at http://www.windsorgov.com/.
