Down & Derby Party in Windsor to benefit charities serving underprivileged youth in northern Colorado

Ehrlich Nissan and VW Down & Derby Party, benefiting Northern Colorado Active 20/30, will take place at the Island at Water Valley from 2-6 p.m. May 3.

In addition to raising funds, NoCO 20/30 hopes the Kentucky-Derby-themed party will create awareness for the organization’s goal of being a fundraising catalyst for charities serving disadvantaged children throughout Northern Colorado, according to a news release from NoCO 20/30.

This year’s primary beneficiaries include: Larimer County Child Advocacy Center, Weld County Boys & Girls Club, Respite Care and Colorado Youth Outdoors. About 1,000 people packed the event last year, and about $100,000 was raised at the event.

“The Down & Derby event has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars for children in northern Colorado,” said Jared Goodman, NoCO 20/30 chairman for the fifth annual event, in the news release. “It is great to give back to so many charities that work hard to keep our children safe and growing year after year.”

Tickets include southern fare and beer, wine, bourbon tasting and the traditional mint juleps. There will be live music by Harley D and the V Twins, as well as a best hat contest to complete the derby theme. Raffle tickets purchased at the event offer the chance to win a variety of prizes, including a trip to Louisville, Ky., for the 2015 Kentucky Derby.

Admission is $100 per person and tickets can be purchased online at

Tickets can also be purchased by contacting Chris Gentle at Windsor State Bank (970) 674-1488.

Northern Colorado Active 20/30 is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization made up of business leaders between the ages of 20 and 39 that are focused on raising money for charities serving disadvantaged children in northern Colorado.
