Weld County has launched a new road map that shows motorists road closures in real time.
The county’s Department of Public Works will regularly update the map with closures and future road maintenance, and will use the map during emergencies to show road closures and openings as they happen, according to a news release.
The map, which can be found at www.weldgov.com/maps/publicinfrastructure, is a joint venture among the Public Works Department, Geographic Information System, the Office of Emergency Management and the Public Information Office.
“After the 2013 flood, several county departments came together to discuss new ways to better communicate road closure information to the public,” Weld County Commission Chairman Douglas Rademacher said in a statement. “While we were able to successfully share closure information on a map and on our social media pages, we knew we could find a better way to get that information to the public as quickly as possible.”
