Windsor High School graduate holding poker run fundraiser Aug. 16 for twin brother

A Windsor High School graduate is holding a poker run to raise money and renovate his house so his paralyzed twin brother can move in with him.

Kelly Matson, 36, a 1996 Windsor graduate, plans to hold the poker run Aug. 16 at five locations beginning at The New Plantation in Evans. He hopes to end the run at Ricky B’s Sports Pub in Windsor.

Matson of Greeley said his brother, Kerry, was ejected from an all-terrain vehicle, and it ended up landing on him during a family reunion last July in South Dakota. Kerry graduated from WHS in 1995. In all, five Matson brothers graduated from WHS.

“He broke his hip in three spots and he stretched his spinal cord and he’s paralyzed from the waist down,” Matson said. “I’m’ trying to keep his morale up and get him a vehicle. His living situation isn’t the best so my other option is I’m looking to buy my house and have him move into my house.”

Matson said he’d also like to have a silent auction at the final stop of the poker run. He’d like to set up a band at Ricky B’s for the event. He said the only location he has confirmed so far is The New Plantation.

“Any donations I can get for the silent auction I‘d be grateful,” Matson said.
