Afro-fusion band Paa Kow’s By All Means Band will perform a free concert from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday as part of the 13th annual Windsor Summer Concert Series in Boardwalk Park, 100 N. 5th St.
Bandleader and drummer Paa Kow was born in the village of Enyan Denkyira, near Cape Coast in Ghana, West Africa. He’s shared the stage with both African and American luminaries including Kojo Antwi, Hugh Masekela and Victor Wooten. Inspired by his musical and cultural exchange with musicians in the U.S., Paa Kow fuses traditional rhythms, time signatures and the Fante language from Ghana with funk and jazz to create an Afro-fusion sound reminiscent of Paul Simon, Richard Bona, Karl Denson and Bela Fleck.
The 2014 Windsor Summer Concert Series is sponsored in part by Ehrlich Nissan and Volkswagen, Poudre Valley REA, Columbine Health Systems, Windsor Veterinary Hospital, The Downing Center for Animal Pain Management. Media Sponsors include TRI-102.5, K99, 94.3 Loudwire, 99.9 The Point, Windsor Now! and Digi Pix Signs.
The town’s concert series runs through Aug. 7.
