When it’s August in Windsor, that can only mean that the annual fruit sale is here to benefit the Windsor High School After Prom event.
The WHS After Prom Committee is taking orders for fresh, hand-picked Colorado fruit for its annual fundraiser. Profits from the sales of these fresh peaches, apples and pears go to fund the 2015 WHS After Prom party.
“This is a fun, alcohol-free alternative party for Windsor High School junior and senior students,” said After Prom committee member Linda Tomberlin.
Fruits available will be:
— Palisade Peaches for $35 — 25-pound box ($1.40 per pound); 1/2 box peaches $18 ($1.45 per pound)
— Ginger Gold Apples for $25 — 22-pound box ($1.14 per pound); 1/2 box $13 ($1.18 per pound)
— Bartlett Pears for $25 — 28-pound box (89 cents per pound); 1/2 box $13 (93 cents per pound)
“Our callers have been getting in touch with people who’ve ordered previously, and our dedicated email and phone (callers) are getting busier every day,” said After Prom committee member Lisa Loeffelholz. “Our Western Slope orchard says this is one of the best crops he’s had in a while. Prices are the same as last year, and when you look at the breakdown per pound, these are super great prices.”
Tomberlin said all fruit is handpicked, tree-ripened, quality fruit from Fritchman Orchards, located on the Western Slope of Colorado.
For more information, or to place an order, email email@example.com or call (970) 371-7159.
Tomberlin said after orders are placed, a committee member will contact those ordering prior to delivery. Payment is due at the time of pick-up. Cash and checks only.
Deadline for orders is Aug. 12. Fruit orders can be picked up from 8 a.m.-noon on two consecutive Saturdays — Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 — at the Windsor-Severance Re-4 school administration parking, 1020 Main St. Windsor.
“This is by far the biggest fundraiser we have and our volunteers put in hundreds of hours to make this successful,” Loeffelholz said.”
Last year’s fruit sale netted $8,640, with more than 27,000 pounds of fruit sold.
