HENNEKE’S COMMENTS: “We have a young crop of kids coming in that have quite a bit of experience and talent to add onto the returners. Being in a second year where kids are used to me and the coaching staff is used to the kids, we’re really building those relationships that are the foundation of a successful program. It will be really interesting and exciting to see what can happen this year just because that piece is out of the way. It’s a really well-balanced team. It’s not tipped one way or the other on that. There’s some speed mixed in. There’s some real high-level defensive players mixed in. There’s some big hitters mixed in. I try to focus on processes. If we focus on the little things, the big things happen. That’s really our goal this year is to really focus on the details, focus on the processes that will get us to where we want to be. Every ream wants to be champions, but those winning teams win because they’re good at the details. Those winning programs who are there year after year after year win because they have the details covered.”
SEASON OUTLOOK: Look for Henneke to start making her mark as a coach in the Windsor program as she enters her second year. Roosevelt, Frederick, the addition of Holy Family and perennial power Erie make the conference one of the toughest at the 4A state level. The Wizards have a lot of young talent and should be conference contenders by the end of the season.
