2013 budget to include several new projects around town
October 3, 2012
While the economy continues to drag nationwide, there are some bright spots here in Windsor. Sales tax collections are ahead of 2011 and should end the year in the $5.7 to $6.0 million range, which would be our best year of collections on record. Keep shopping locally!
Windsor has issued 277 new single family home permits through the end of July. This number of permits is higher than the number issued for the entire year of 2011. Our assessed valuation decreased by $3.9 million compared to last year’s valuation. Regardless of any fluctuations in our assessed valuation, our mill levy will remain unchanged at 12.03 mills, where it has been since 2002. This will result in roughly $47,000 less in property tax revenue in 2013.
The town has continued funding construction projects, some more noticeable than others. The reconstruction of the Interstate 25 and Colo. 392 interchange will provide long needed relief to traffic in that area. Also happening in 2012 was construction of Diamond Valley Plaza at the Diamond Valley Park Complex, overlay of Main Street from 7th to 15th street, construction of three neighborhood parks and the expansion of our waste water treatment plant.
We are now in the process of developing our 2013 budget. We are planning a number of projects which include another water storage tank, street reconstruction on Eastman Park Drive, County Road 17 and 4th street, construction of Northern Lights Park in the Peakview subdivision.
