The Interstate 25 frontage road south of the Berthoud/Colo. 56 exit closed on Tuesday for a bridge reconstruction project expected to last through June 2013.
The bridge, located between Mead and Johnstown south of I-25 mile marker 250, will be reconstructed by the Colorado Department of Transportation to accommodate the flood flow of the Little Thompson River. The $1.3 million project comes from a state fund for Colorado’s deficient and worn bridges.
The frontage road will be closed just south of the Park-n-Ride off of I-25 exit 250 and just north of the access point to the Valley Dirt Riders facility. The Park-n-Ride will remain open, and Valley Dirt Riders traffic will be directed to I-25 exit 245 and then north on the frontage road. The bridge will remain completely closed during construction.
Work on the project will take place from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists are urged to drive slowly in the coned areas.
