Fallen hero plates now available

Colorado fallen hero licence plates are now available at the motor vehicle department.

The plates were signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper in April 2012.

The idea was brought forth by Basil Marciniak, a Larimer County sheriff’s deputy in response to the death of Sam Brownlee, a Weld County sheriff’s deputy.

Anyone interested in purchasing a plate can obtain a certificate after making a one-time $50 donation to Colorado Concerns of Police Survivors to support its programs.

For more information, visit www.coloradocops.org click on “License Plates,” make the donation, print the receipt and take it to the Department of Motor Vehicles for the plates. Usual custom plate fees also apply.
