GOOD FOR YOU: Windsor's Lobmeyer busy with studies and two sports at Coast Guard

Former Windsor High School standout student/athlete Banning Lobmeyer is making his mark on the East Coast.

The 2011 Windsor graduate had to sit out a year for an ACL repair from wrestling for the Wizards in the 2011 regional tournament, but finally entered into his training this summer at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

Lobmeyer is the son of Teresa and Bryan Lobmeyer of Windsor.

“He is doing very well as he’s adjusted to the military expectations,” Teresa said. “He is studying in the field of government.”

Hitting the books at the military academy isn’t the only thing on Lobmeyer’s plate. Lobmeyer is also playing football and wrestling.

“It’s quite a challenge to add in the two sports against the rigorous military and school schedule,” Teresa said. “He played the position as a running back for the Bears this fall, and now he’s wrestling at 184 pounds for the Bears.”

Lobmeyer’s official title is Cadet 4C.
