With the area’s population booming and businesses racing into town, the Windsor Chamber of Commerce recently put the community on the technological forefront, adding a mobile application and complete website overhaul to its informational arsenal.
The website, www.windsorchamber.net, used to simply be a business directory, but the redesign has made it a one-stop hub of information for shopping, news and daily deals from businesses across Windsor. That idea is taken a step further with the free mobile application, which adds a community calendar, trail and park maps, and information about virtually every Windsor business in an easy-to-use interface.
“It was a long, long process for us,” said Michal Connors, executive director of the chamber. “This is more of a community tool for anybody who is in town or looking to move to our community.”
The app is available for download by scanning the chamber’s “QR code” — available online — or searching for “Windsor, CO” in the Android or Apple app stores.
“We’re trying to put more things that will be important for the community,” Connors said. “This is hopefully a tool people will be able to use whenever they are out and about.”
The website and app were in development throughout most of 2012 and officially “went live” in the fall. The nearly $10,000 project was financed partially by money the town kicks in to the chamber’s annual budget.
“It truly ended up being a community project, and I’m glad we got ahead of the game,” Connors said. “Now everybody else will be playing catch-up with us. I think it’s a really good position to be in. We’re open for business.”
