Windsor FFA Chapter celebrates FFA week while planning for annual hired hand auction

The Windsor FFA Chapter could not be more a-buzz. Windsor High School’s Ag Department celebrated its annual “FFA Week” during the last week of January.

On Jan. 28, the agriculture students all wore blue and gold to advertise the colors of its organization. On Jan. 29, it was “Drive your agricultural vehicle to school day” where the students drove their tractors, trucks and other decorated vehicles to the school.

On Jan. 30, the students gathered at 5:30 a.m. to cook a “thank-you” breakfast for the entire staff at WHS. Students also gathered together at the school that night and held their annual game night, where everyone brought board games and cards to enjoy the night with all of their friends in the FFA Chapter.

On Jan. 31, the students gathered in the Ag Shop for the first-ever “Movie Night,” and then to top it all off on Feb. 1, when the students all wore their Windsor FFA shirts — designed by WHS FFA Chapter member Rachel Winter — to show their pride.

While winding down from the FFA Week festivities, the officer team and advisers are already planning the hired hand auction, which is set for 5:30 p.m. March 6 in the WHS auxiliary gym. At this event, hundreds of Windsor and Severance citizens come together to purchase the labor of all of the FFA students. Once purchased, the students donate eight hours of labor for the buyer, whether it is baby-sitting or mowing their lawn. Food will also be served at this event. Mark your calendars, and please come and join us and help support your WHS FFA.
