Obituary: Darl J. Brunner

Darl J. Brunner joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 19, 2013.

He was born in Windsor to Jacob (Jake) and Tillie (Buxmann) Brunner on Jan 9, 1938.

His parents held his Holy Baptism on March 6, 1938. He was confirmed as an adolescent into the Lutheran faith on April 6, 1952. He was again confirmed and accepted into membership at Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown by Rev. Eric Andersen on April 4, 2012.

He attended Windsor schools and graduated from Windsor High School. Darl lived in the Windsor area all his life. Darl was blessed with four sons while married to his first wife, they were all raised in Windsor. He farmed in Windsor for more than 30 years. Later in life he ran heavy construction equipment.

Darl was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather. He cherished his family and loved the Lord, and a wide circle of cousins and friends.

Darl will be sadly missed by his wife of 16 years, Donita; his sons, Darl Jr.(Becky), Brett (Wanda) and Anthony (Jodi) all of Windsor; his stepsons the Rev. Heath Curtis (Rebekah) of Worden, Ill., and Bryce Curtis (Heidi) of Fort Collins; his seven grandchildren and their spouses; six step-grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and the great grandson he was joyfully expecting.

Darl was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Russell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Darl’s name to Marks Funeral & Cremation Service.

A funeral service for Darl was held at Faith Lutheran Church, 3999 West South 1st St., Johnstown, on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Eric Andersen will officiate. A private interment will take place at a later date.
