Hundreds of Windsor’s leaders, developers and visionaries turned out in droves Wednesday night to mingle and be recognized for helping to make the town a business powerhouse year after year.
The 111th Windsor Chamber of Commerce dinner and awards ceremony packed the recently completed Army National Guard Readiness Center with leaders from across the Windsor and northern Colorado.
Among the big winners on the night was Clay Drake, a leader with Broe Land Co. and a development icon within the community. Drake, a longtime Windsor resident, has helped lead the transformation of the area’s industrial park, with Great Western Development.
“I’m really pleased to be a part of the industrial development in this area,” Drake said after the event. In addition to the industrial park praise, Drake earned his president’s plaque for serving as the Chamber’s leader for 2011 and 2012.
“We’re just happy to be a part of the community,” he added. “Windsor treats us very well. We’re so fortunate here to have all of the things that we do in this tiny town.”
Pete Hyland received a commemorative “steering award” for his work in guiding the Windsor Chamber Board during eight years of service. During that time he served three years as president and three years as vice president, among other roles.
Brent Phinney and Kristie Melendez also were lauded for their efforts with the Downtown Development Authority, which has been instrumental in revitalizing parts of Windsor’s central hub. Pelican Jo’s Pizzeria and Mountainwood Pet Hospital were recognized by the chamber for efforts that went above and beyond in the community.
“We want everyone to be successful together,” Windsor Chamber President Ty Chadwick, told the crowd.
Also acknowledged during the dinner were long-time members of the chamber of commerce, including Water Valley Land Co., LLC, which received a 20-year plaque. The Windsor Beacon picked up a nod for its 15-year membership. Other groups were praised for their 10-year Chamber membership including Vacations in Paradise, Renaissance Insurance Group, LLC, Townsquare Media, Great Western Development Company, Inc, The Local Pages and Windsor Auto Repair.
