What services do you offer? I offer yoga for beginners to intermediate students. Hatha yoga is a practice that uses active postures to increases endurance and strengthen muscles. Restorative Yoga is a more relaxed slower paced practice that helps calm your nervous system and relieve body pain. I also offer private sessions. Right now I am having a Spring Break Special. All new customers get their first drop-in class for only $5 (reg. $10) I also have a few affordable packages.
How long have you been in Windsor? I have been a yoga instructor for nearly a year, but I just started teaching yoga out of RMCSIC in January 2013. I have lived in Windsor for seven years. This is home, I wouldn’t want to teach anywhere else.
Who is the owner? Elizabeth Kueny is the owner and operator of VIP Yoga.
Why did you want to start this venture? Any experience in the past? In 2007 I had an autoimmune reaction that the doctors couldn’t figure out or treat me for it. I was left in a lot of pain with no answers or cure. I decided to try yoga. It helped me so much that I knew one day I wanted to help people to achieve their optimal wellness.
Why should people do business with you? My tagline is Yoga for Real People. I strive to make everyone’s yoga experience positive and comfortable. I want people to reach their own potential with yoga and not worry about what the person next to them is doing. It is a serious practice without the serious environment.
What’s the most challenging part of operating in the community? I am small and I don’t have a variety of classes like the bigger fitness centers. As my class sizes grow I will add more classes.
What makes you unique? I bring a unique approach to my classes. I am the yoga student who gets intimidated in classes. When I started doing yoga I couldn’t touch my toes. Today I can touch my toes but my body isn’t built to be the most flexible person in the room. I have learned to embrace my flexible limitations and use it to help people feel more comfortable with what their bodies will allow them to do. I want to challenge my students in a noncompetitive environment.
