Weld District Court judge among nominees for state appeals court seat

A Weld District Court judge is one of three nominated to fill a vacancy on the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Weld District Court Judge Marcelo Kopcow, appointed to the 19th Judicial District in 2005, is one of three nominated by the Supreme Court Nominating Commission, which met in Denver this week, according to a news release. The other nominees are Karen Ashby and Michael Berger.

Gov. John Hickenlooper has 15 days to appoint one of the nominees as an appeals court judge, per Colorado’s Constitution.
