Ardella Joy Rydbom, 72, of Windsor, peacefully went to be with the Lord Sept. 12, 2013 at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland. She was born Sept. 21, 1940 in Erwin, S.D. to Thomas Henry and Marietta (Neu) Evenson. On June 23, 1958 she married Albert Rydbom in Minnesota.
Ardella (Ardie) was the foundation that built the Rydbom family. Her patience, love, compassion and strength were truly unmatched. Raising four boys and turning them into men was her badge of honor. No matter what the circumstances her boys could never do wrong. She protected them every day until her passing. Her daughters in law were so special to her. They were the daughters she never had and became true friends. Ardella and her late husband Albert “Big Al” moved their family to Windsor in 1983 from eastern South Dakota. She worked at Rite Aid in Greeley for more than 30 years. Ardella loved her pets. She spoiled her dogs Coco, Buster and Anabelle. Buster and Anabelle, who have passed and have been cremated, will be buried with her ashes in Windsor. One thing she had a passion about was her Denver Broncos. When it came to the Broncos, she watched every game. She was also an avid collector of Barbie dolls as well as other items. Elvis Presley was her favorite singer. An Elvis impersonator will sing at her funeral. She was looking forward to seeing her first great-granddaughter Madison Joy. Madison, who will be named after her, is expected to be born this November. She smiled every time the subject came up.
Ardella had eight grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She loved spending time with them and taking them shopping. As her son and caregiver until the cancer took her, she was not only my mom, she was my best friend. There will never be another person so special to all of us. Wish we could have had more time with her but understand she is in a better place. Thanks for everything you did, mom, you will be missed every day.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Rydbom and wife, Kari of Windsor; Douglas Rydbom and wife, Rose of Elizabethtown, Pa.; Kurtis Rydbom and former wife, Sharon of Loveland; Jim Rydbom and wife, Kim of Windsor; grandchildren, Kolten Rydbom and significant other Ashley, Jake Wheaton, Taryn Rydbom, Landon Rydbom, Brynne Rydbom, Mikayla Rydbom and Mason Rydbom; sisters, Mary Taschner and husband Larry, Lorraine Warne and husband Kenneth, Evelyn Bjordahl; sisters-in-law Dorothy Evenson and Barbara Evenson. She is also survived by her loving extended family and many friends.
Ardella was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, parents, brothers Truman and Harold, and grandson Aaron.
