Barbara Jean (Havermale) Price, 79, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2013. She lived at Memory Care of Seven Lakes in Loveland and at Bright Assisted Living in Windsor for the past two years.
She was born in Quincy, Ill. on Dec. 9, 1933. She lived her adult life in Quincy, Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., Sparks, Nev., and then came to Windsor three years ago to live near her daughter. She gave birth to six children, who survive her: Tina Schinner of Windsor, Deborah Lopez of Chula Vista, Calif., David Price of Bullhead City, Ariz., Lawrence Price of Sparks, Nev., Kristine Reeves of Haines, Ark., and Douglas Price of Tonopah, Nev.; as well as grandchildren Jennifer Lopez Payne, Delisa Lopez, Courtney Schinner, Daniel Schinner, Megan Reeves, Hannah Reeves and Sarah Schinner; and two great-grandsons, Zachariah and Logan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Eleanor Havermale; husband, Samuel Price; her six brothers, Joseph, James, Victor, Noel, George and Richard; and her two sisters, Mary and Nancy.
Barbara stayed home to raise her children in the early years and then went to work in various office jobs, ending her career at H&R Block in Nevada. In her retirement, she did office work at Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks, Nev., and helped with raising money for a new location.
When she returned to her hometown of Quincy to care for her last remaining sibling, Mary Verigan, during her final year, she visited the local nursing home with family members to entertain the residents with music and song. She decided to stay in Quincy after she reconnected with family and friends from high school. She only moved to Colorado after she needed more assistance with daily living activities. She had a very wry sense of humor that kept her housemates smiling.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, with a luncheon to follow. Burial of her ashes will be at St. Boniface’s Cemetery in Quincy, Ill., on Oct. 17 following a service at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the church where she grew up.
