LaSalle man shot by police released from North Colorado Medical Center

The 32-year-old LaSalle man arrested Wednesday after exchanging gunfire with the Weld County SWAT team was released from the hospital Friday and booked into the Weld County Jail.

North Colorado Medical Center released Jeffrey Plahn and he was booked, Weld County Sheriff’s Office Bureau Chief Steve Reams said.

None of the officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, Reams said.

The sheriff’s office will be conducting a criminal investigation, and the case will be turned over to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office for filing of any charges, Reams said.

Weld County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Pamela Dickman said the office has three days following an arrest to file charges. She said the office will likely decide whether to do so next week.

The sheriff’s office arrested Plahn for investigation of eight counts of criminal attempted first-degree murder, eight counts of criminal attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference, eight counts of first-degree assault on a peace officer, eight counts of felony menacing and one count of prohibited use of a weapon.

No information regarding bail was available Friday.

Plahn is scheduled to appear at 8 a.m. today in Weld County Court.
