OBIT: Nancy Wiedeman

Nancy Wiedeman, 80, of Greeley, died Dec. 1 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver.

She was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Windsor to Carl and Mollie (Schmidt) Schaefer. She married Edwien Wiedeman of Greeley on Dec. 29, 1951. The couple started their own farm and cattle feeding operation and after two years got into the dairy business. Wiedeman worked beside her husband, Ed, and was a tireless supporter of the dairy industry.

As a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ she fulfilled several officer and committee roles for the Women’s Fellowship and sang in the choir.

Wiedeman will be remembered by her church friends for organizing annual one-day bus trips to various points of interests.

After living on the dairy farm for 49 years Wiedeman and her husband retired and moved to town.

Most recently, Wiedeman enjoyed her volunteer work with the RSVP program, KUNC radio, UNC Theatre and the Greeley clinic.

She is survived by a son, Gary Wiedeman and special friend Nancy Jo Norman of Greeley; a daughter, Sandy (Mark) Keegan of Littleton; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Dean) Mohnhaupt of Denver and Daniel Trefz of Wheat Ridge. She is also survived by two sisters, Wilma Helzer and Alice Hoffner; and one brother, Edwin (Lillian) Schaefer, all of Greeley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Martha Kent, Esther Daniel and Clara Hotchkiss.
