The Water Valley Land Company announced Jan. 16 the hiring of longtime Windsor journalist Kurt Hinkle as the company’s director of marketing.
Hinkle has lived in Windsor since 1998, and in the Water Valley project since 2007, and most recently was the general manager of the University of Northern Colorado’s student-operated newspaper, The Mirror.
As the director of marketing, Hinkle will be responsible for managing the public relations and communication of the Water Valley Land Company and its affiliated organizations, including the Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club and its restaurant and sports bar.
Hinkle is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in news editorial journalism. A month after the UNC football team won its second-straight Division II national championship, Hinkle recruited three friends to assist in writing and designing a book about the program entitled “Northern Light: The Complete History of the University of Northern Colorado Football Program.”
After graduation, Hinkle was hired as the senior reporter for the Windsor Beacon newspaper. From 1998-08 Hinkle won three dozen individual state awards for his work, including the 2003 Colorado Press Association’s Rising Star and the 2004 Fort Collins Coloradoan/Windsor Beacon Staffer of the Year. In May 2013, Hinkle and four other Windsor-area journalists were inducted into the Windsor High School Athletic Hall of Fame as part of its Media Legacy Award.
