GRANDSON FIXING GRANDFATHER’S HEADSTONE CAUSES SUSPICION

At 1:50 p.m. Jan. 26, police were called to Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor off Colo. 392 and Colo. 257 on a criminal mischief in progress. The reporting party said a group of people were pushing over headstones. While police were heading to the cemetery, they saw a group driving eastbound on Colo. 392 in a white sedan with temporary plates. Police caught up to the vehicle and stopped it at Colo. 392 and Weld County Road 31. Police spoke to the driver and he told them he was at the cemetery fixing his grandfather’s headstone. The man agreed to go back to the cemetery to show police, and showed them a headstone, and it appeared to be intact. The man told police he had numerous family members buried there. Police told the man that if there were problems with the headstone in the future to contact the maintenance crew for repairs.
