If you are planning on going outside today, you will want to break out a heavy jacket, boots and possibly a snow blower before braving the weather.

The National Weather Service declared a winter storm warning for northern Colorado Thursday night and this morning.

Up to nine inches of snow were expected to fall Thursday night, with the NWS predicting lows around 17 degrees with a 100 percent chance of precipitation.

Roads are expected to be icy and snow-packed.

The chance for snow drops to 40 percent for today, which will be mostly cloudy with a high near 26 degrees and a low of 9 degrees.
