A Woman's Place in Weld County announced its participation in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, where shelter employees will host multiple fundraisers, awareness events and educational trainings throughout October.

Some of those events include the following:

» Pints for the Place: From 5-8 p.m. Thursday, free food and raffle prizes will be at A Woman's Place's third fundraising night at WeldWerks Brewing Co., 508 8th Ave. in Greeley. The organization gets $1 of every pint purchased.

» Purple Thursday: On Oct. 19, A Woman's Place is encouraging residents to wear purple to honor victims and support survivors of domestic violence.

» Shopping Extravaganza: A Woman's Place will travel to the Outlets at Loveland on Oct. 21 for a shopping-themed party, which includes lunch, wine tasting, manicures, chair massages, and more. The organization will get 50 percent of ticket sales for the event.

» 24th Annual Celebrating Women Gala: A Woman's Place will honor five Weld County women — Jean Daviet, Emily Kemme, Patty Gates, Lois Ann Onorato and Stephanie Torrez — at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., in Greeley. The evening will have videos about the honorees, music by The Burroughs and a performance art piece by A Woman's Place staff and volunteers.
