Aims Community College earns Daniels Fund grant to provide scholarships for veterans, nontraditional and EMS students

Aims Community College has earned a grant from the Daniels Fund to provide scholarships for non-traditional students, returning military veterans and individuals pursuing careers in the emergency medical field.

The $30,000 grant will go toward funding scholarships awarded between Saturday and May 31, 2019, according to a news release from Aims Community College.

The Daniels Fund Boundless Opportunity Scholarship will primarily help students at Aims' Windsor campus as they receive state-of-the-art training in the paramedic programs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of EMTs and paramedics is projected to grow by 24 percent through 2024, a much faster rate than other sectors, the release.

"Timing could not have been better to assist students interested in emergency medical service programs as the job outlook in this field is very promising," Aims President Leah L. Bornstein said in the release. "Grants such as the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship have a direct positive impact on our local community."
