Aims Community College hosts Public Safety Day on April 8 at Windsor campus

Aims Community College will host Public Safety Day from 8 a.m. to noon April 8 at the Public Safety Institute on the Windsor campus, 1130 Southgate Drive.

Students, their families and the public are invited to tour Aims' state-of-the-art Public Safety Institute, watch live burn demonstrations performed by Aims students, enjoy refreshments and learn about the opportunities Aims Public Safety students have when studying fire science, emergency medical services, criminal justice and medical assisting, according to a news release from the community college.

Aims' Public Safety Day also will treat guests to demos including proper strategies to fight and rescue during a car fire, techniques used in Aims' state-of-the-art burn house, patient care techniques performed by EMT students and a visit from Northern Colorado's Air Link, the Medical Center of the Rockies helicopter.

Public Safety Day also serves as an opportunity for school officials to celebrate Aims' 50th anniversary with the public, according to the release.
