CDOT wraps up Labor Day DUI campaign, gears up for fall campaign

Colorado law enforcement issued 1,184 citations for impaired drivers during its annual Heat is On campaign, which ended Sept. 5.

According to a news release from Colorado Department of Transportation's spokesman Sam Cole, the campaign, which began Aug. 18, saw an increase of more than 100 DUI arrests from the year before.

According to the release, 121 police agencies took part in the campaign. The Colorado Springs Police Department had the most arrests, with 106, and the Aurora Police Department had the second most, counting 93 arrests. All arrest data is available here.

CDOT's next enforcement campaign, the five-week Fall Festivals Campaign, will begin Friday. The release states 1,498 drivers were arrested during last year's fall campaign.
