Clearview Library District hosts High Hops Brewery tasting
March 4, 2017
High Hops Beer Tasting
WHEN: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Windsor-Severance Library, 720 3rd St. in Windsor
The Clearview Library District is partnering with High Hops Brewery for a special tasting event.
The free beer-tasting event runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Windsor-Severance Library, 720 3rd St. in Windsor. Attendees must be aged 21 or older and register at http://bit.ly/2m0hvT8.
In addition to the chance to taste some of the Windsor brewery's beer, the tasting will offer a chance to learn the basics of beer brewing and fermentation; how ingredients affect flavor, aroma and appearance of beer; and how to evaluate and identify the components of flavor profiles and beer styles, according to information from the library district.
With the rising popularity of craft and home brewing, more people seem to be interested in understanding beer, how it's made and what goes into its taste, said Casey Lansinger, the library district's public services manager.
“For those who haven’t visited High Hops before, it gives them exposure to what they’re all about and lets them meet at least one of the brewers, who will be facilitating the program.” Casey Lansinger Library District’s Public Services Manager
High Hops Brewing's Zach Weakland also will discuss beer pairings, Lansinger said.
"Which I think people are always interested in hearing about," she said. "And for those who haven't visited High Hops before, it gives them exposure to what they're all about and lets them meet at least one of the brewers, who will be facilitating the program."
Those who can't go — the event doesn't have many attendee spots remaining — shouldn't worry too much because the tasting is one of several programs the library district has planned in partnership with High Hops.
In June, the brewery, 6461 Colo. 392 in Windsor, will host the library's Adult Summer Adventure Program kickoff event with a talk from Deputy State Historian Jason Hanson about the early history of beer and brewing in Colorado, Lansinger said.
Staring June 8 and continuing on the second Thursday of each month, the library will host a monthly pub trivia event at High Hops Brewery.
