Monday Columbine Health Systems announced the construction of The Westwood Independent Living and a 60-bed skilled nursing facility in Windsor.

The two new facilities will be built on the corner of 14th and Main Streets in Windsor, according to a news release from Columbine Health Systems.

Planned as a 45-apartment, two-story structure The Westwood will offer one and two bedroom apartments.

The single-story, 45-bed skilled nursing facility will offer all private rooms for short–term rehabilitation, long term care and hospice.

Columbine's current skilled nursing facility, Columbine Commons Health & Rehab, has cared for over 500 patients since opening in December 2013. The company will remodel that facility to become a 30-bed, all private room, secure dementia care facility, according to the release.

Owner and CEO of Columbine Health Systems Bob Wilson, purchased 14 acres at 15th and Main Streets in 1999 with the vision to complete a campus of facilities and services for seniors in Windsor and the region east of I-25 similar to the Fort Collins Campus, according to the release.

The Windsor Campus expansion will add approximately 125 new jobs to the Windsor area, according to the release.
