Country music star Jake Owen will headline the American Cancer Society 25th Anniversary Northern Colorado Cattle Barons Ball at the Budweiser Events Center this fall, and tickets for the concert go on sale Friday.
The event will take place Sept. 9. This year's theme is Barefoot Blue Jean Night, according to a news release from event organizers.
Owen was named "Breakthrough Artist of the Year" during the 2012 American Country Awards. His latest album, "American Love," debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums last year. LANCO, a modern country band with southern roots, will open for Owen.
The Cattle Barons Ball will start as a private gala held on the floor of the arena from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open to the public for the Jake Owen concert at 8 p.m.
Concert-only tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and can be purchased at http://www.budweisereventscenter.com, the Budweiser Events Center Box office or by calling (877) 544-TIXX.
"Cancer touches lives and changes them forever," Dana Hamilton, American Cancer Society senior director of major gifts, said in the news release. "Thanks to the Weld County community who started this great event 25 years ago, the Cattle Barons Ball has raised nearly $7 million to support the fight against the disease."
The Cattle Barons Ball, which has sold out the past several years, celebrates the region's Western heritage with fine dining, dancing, live and silent actions, and the performance by Owen, all while fundraising to help end cancer.
Co-chairs of the 25th Anniversary Cattle Barons Ball are Randy and Nicole Watkins. They are Greeley natives and University of Northern Colorado alumni. Randy lost his mother to lung cancer when he was 20, and they both have many friends and family members who are survivors of the disease.
"The additional seating and pricing opportunities made possible by hosting the event at the Budweiser Events Center will give more people a chance to enjoy a great evening, and take in the sounds of a chart-topping entertainer like Jake Owen," Randy said.
