Gardner and bipartisan group of senators send letter on war crimes in Syria
February 24, 2017
Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., joined Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and ranking member Ben Cardin, D-Md., in sending a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson asking for an update on plans to demand accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Syrian civil war.
In the letter, Gardner and the 13 other U.S. senators request Tillerson work to ensure Bashar al-Assad, Russia and Iran are made to answer for the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Syria.
The letter encourages Tillerson to consider Russia's role in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
