Goat spends night at fire station

Firefighters stand with the goat "Crackers". The goat was found on WCR 74 late Tuesday night as it wandered into traffic.

A goat nicknamed Crackers was on the lam Tuesday in Windsor.

Windsor Severance Fire Rescue responded to a call late Tuesday night about a goat obstructing traffic on Weld County Road 74.

A crew arrived on scene at 11:30 p.m. and wrangled the goat in by casting webbing around its neck, said Todd Vess, battalion chief at Windsor Severance Fire Rescue.

The goat stayed in a makeshift tent at the station overnight, until Severance Animal Control picked up the goat Wednesday morning.

Vess described the goat as friendly and said the crew fed him crackers throughout the night, which is how he got his new moniker.
